Getting in shape is a common New Years Resolution, but keeping that resolution is hard. So if you need to, start slow. Even if it is just a few sit ups, or jumping rope, or push ups a day, just start doing them at a time when you can keep doing them each day, after a few weeks, it will be a habit. Then add a few more to the set, or add a different exercise. After a few more weeks, that too will be a habit. If you find that there are days when you can't do a lot, fine. There is time if you prioitize and get things done right away.
