With the new house, even though we are paying twice as much in rent, our other bills have gone down so much, we are saving a lot of money. This summer we only had that AC on for about 6 weeks in total, and the heater runs for about 5-10 minutes at a time, then turns off for hours. And the house stays warm all the time, without having to worry about So this year, when I think of all the things I have to be thankful for, this house is near the top of the list, simply because I know none of us will have to suffer from the cold.
Hello again everyone. Thanksgiving is on it's way, and dreams of turkey and mashed potatoes fill my mind. There are several things that I am grateful this year, mostly my family, including all our cats, but one of the things I am most grateful for is our house. Not simply because it can hold all of us more comfortably then the trailer did, but because it is so warm. When we were at the trailer, we would have to insulate all under it with the rigid pink foam you could get from Menard's, just in hope that it would help keep the pipes from freezing. The walls were so thin, with practically no insulation, that Mom was always cold. And the intake pipe for the heater would freeze over every time the heater turned off, so the pilot light would always burn out and the heater wouldn't turn on again, unless we left it running all the time.
