People are often surpirsed to hear that I happily celebrate Christmas with my Mom and brother, and most would figure that it is for the presents. While it is true that I enjoy getting gifts, I'm not going to lie since everyone likes getting stuff, that really isn't what I enjoy most. I enjoy the sense of happiness and togetherness I get with my family. And no, I do not get offended when someone says Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever. In fact, I spent quite a bit of time last night at work on the phone with a customer who detailed the Mass that she was going to attend at midnight at her church. When having a debate or when someone gets pushy, I will happily cite references and debate the origins of the holiday. But when someone takes 5 seconds out of their day to give me good wishes, I accept them with grace and gratitude, and return them. So Happy Holidays, peaceful dreams, and all the best th
Of course, the second part is a bit sarcastic, but oh well. I did have a very good time with my brother and the rest of our family today for our Christmas dinner, and we had a very good time this morning opening up presents. I got some very lovely gifts, and of course, I got to spend time with my mom, which is always a treat. You would think that when you live with someone, that you would see them a lot, but sadly, this is not the case. Mom works from about 4 or 5 in the morning to about 2-3 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, and I work from 2-11, on a rotating basis, which means I get every other weekend off. Then on Saturday, Mom goes to the VFW to help with the kitchen during Bingo with my Aunt Rosey, which she enjoys very much. I do get to see Mom each night when I come home for lunch, since I work just across town about 8-10 blocks away, and we spend ever Sunday I have off playing D&D in the evenings, but it is nice to get to spend the majority of a day with my Mom.
